Probably
when I was in 1st or 2nd grade, I realized that I also
possessed the art of Cartooning and caricaturing. I
started off with the initial drawing and painting stuff.
Somehow, felt there must be a short cut to it. I drew our

competition. Drawing caricatures from the magazines and
newspapers and support from my parents encouraged me to
nurture this talent as well. I was in primary school when a
renowned Philosopher, Shri Bannanje Govindacharya visited
our place in Bellary. I drew and gave his caricature to him;
he did mention this in one of his Bhagavadgeetha
pravachanas.

the midst of academics, music, acting and directing plays,
my cartooning always suffered. This coupled with refusals
from the magazines to publish my cartoons refrained me
from drawing until I completed my

Bachelor’s degree. At no point
was I in a mood to give in. Also my sister Bhagyashree
Sharath's inspiration, also a noted short story writer,
strengthened my perseverance.
In the early 1997, my cartoon got published in "Sudha",
a leading kannada weekly magazine. Drawing inspiration from
this, I started drawing more and got published in all local
kannada magazines, until I landed the English daily,

with the column "BIT OF WIT", then spread my wings
across political sections, sunday Spotlight, OFFTRACK,
HERE N' THERE of the same daily.

I also initiated the column "That's
Just the way it is" for the online portal
www.firstindia.com. By then, I had collections of
autographed caricatures of many famous personalities to my
list.
My list includes the musicians Vidwan Kadri
Gopalnath, Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasia, Vidwan U.Srinivas, Pt.
VishwaMohan Bhatt to N.R.Narayana Murthy and even the
politicians like Ananthkumar, Krishna

and others. In US, though my main focus wasn't just
on cartooning, I also contributed to "Sangama",
Chicago kannada Sangha's magazine.. After coming back to
India, some of my cartoons were also

published in Times of
India and Thatskannada.com. In all, I would have published
more than 1000 cartoons in the leading newspapers and
magazines and going strong :-)
